Use in CAM, CAE, Design, Data Management and Standard Parts
CAM - The JT data model is well suited to process planning, work cell simulation, machine tool path generation, etc. The ability to bring up contextual information for any manufacturing planning or process integration development is aptly supported by the JT Open Toolkit.
CAE - JT technology is robust enough to provide a faceted model for analysis or the precise model for more detailed analysis. Most CAE packages are moving to the ability to perform analyses on either representation.
Data Management - The JT Open allows applications to look into the JT data files. While most PDM and Data Management utilities operate at the file level, the JT Open Toolkit allows the PDM/DM utility to examine product structure and build an appropriate representation within their native vault.
Standard Parts - JT representations of parts, using the JT Open Toolkit coupled with basic visualization and query capabilities was ideal for these vendors; they need to bring disparate models into a common format and present visually; need to move precise representation to consuming user (could be original CAD or JT file).
