Theorem Solutions

JT Products

Theorem Solutions suite of JT CADverter products delivers JT creation capabilities for a number of the leading CAD systems, including;

  • CADDS5
  • CATIA V4
  • CATIA V5
  • ICEMSurf
  • INVENTOR
  • Pro/ENGINEER
  • SolidWorks
  • STEP AP203

All of these Theorem JT CADverters enable the translation of either single components or complete assemblies from the respective CAD system data into the DirectModel (JT) format. The translation process maintains the complete assembly hierarchy, including component position and orientation information, together with component color and transparency data. In addition non-graphical attribute information, e.g. originating filename, translation data & time, originating CAD system type etc., are also propagated into the JT file for downstream reference.

The requirement to share 3D Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) data, also known as 3D GD&T, is becoming increasingly important for Product Lifecycle Management users who are implementing today's paper-less drawing strategies. The ability to translate 3DPMI data into the JT format is already available in a Theorem customized version of the CATIA V5 CADverter.

Theorem Solutions also maximise the benefit to the JT community by offering CADverter products for those users who need to process JT files into CAD formats. The CADverter suite of products that translate JT files into CAD format data include:

  • CATIA V5

This product takes JT files, containing either single components or complete assemblies and translates the data into the CAD format, maintaining assembly hierarchy and color information.

The Benefits of JT and the JT Open Program

Theorem Solutions is a Vendor Member of the JT Open initiative. Having joined initially as an advocate, Theorem quickly saw the benefits to be gained through elevating their position to one of Vendor Membership. These benefits include the ability to make use of the availability of a rapidly evolving development environment which will enable not just new Theorem JT translators, but significantly improved capability within them.

Even in the first few months of membership of the JT Open initiative, Theorem brought a wide range of JT translators to market. These include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CADDS5, Inventor, Pro/Engineer and STEP AP203.

Sometimes also known as 3D GD&T, three dimensional geometric datum and tolerancing information provides important manufacturing information in a format for distribution via enterprise wide data management and visualization systems.

Theorem's JT translators are already installed in many of the world's leading design and manufacturing companies including Boeing, BMW, Renault and Ford, as well as many Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.

The robust functionality and lightweight nature of JT technology makes it possible to view and share product data and interactive images worldwide, in real-time and throughout all phases of the product lifecycle. This means that Theorem JT translators are also increasingly being used to create JT format data for distribution throughout a value chain.

Keith Jeacock, General Manager for Theorem said: "Theorem's CADverter suite of translators enable engineers to translate their CAD designs, either single components, or complete assemblies into JT output. The resultant JT data integrates into all Product Lifecycle Management solutions making the information accessible to the whole enterprise, including the supply-chain. The JT Open initiative is a key enabler for today's world of PLM developments." He went on to add: "Membership in JT Open helps us not only to quickly develop best in class products, but also to exchange views on product direction and future requirements with other JT Open Members, including General Motors, Ford, Renault, UGS, PTC, Intel, Hewlett Packard and SAP. This environment is the perfect place from which to deliver more benefit to our customers by providing focused solutions to clear business requirements."
